Google Images Re-Linker
Google is adding more context to search results in Google Images. Users will be able to find information about an image, including its origins and whether it is fake or misleading. The feature is called "About this image" and is available by clicking the three-dot menu in a search result or on Google's mobile app. Google will also highlight photos that have been fact-checked by news and other sources.
The company says that high-quality images appeal to users more in the search result thumbnail and increase the likelihood of getting clicks. Site owners can make their images more discoverable by using alt text, creating a relevant image title and ensuring that the image file size is under 2MB. They can also improve their chances of appearing in search by writing compelling captions and placing them near the image.
To create a link to an image or video in Google Photos, tap the three-dot menu on a photo or video and select "Share". The app will copy the direct link to the clipboard so it can be pasted anywhere. This method is good for sharing media on blogs or message board posts or for embedding photos and videos in webpages.
Users should be aware that most images on the web are not free to use and require permission from the owner. They should also check the image's source and copyright terms. In addition, users should know that their searches may include images from untrustworthy sites and should take steps to verify the integrity of the source before downloading or incorporating an image.
